HurlyBurly
HurlyBurly was founded by Artistic Directors Sarah Forbes and Catherine Carter in 2016.
We originally trained as classical singers and began to make work together as very new parents with babes in arms (and on breast!). At that moment in our lives the opportunity to create something new together and to continue to make music was a gift. We make shows that we would have wanted to experience at that time for ourselves - where babies can be themselves and so can their parents.

We believe:
- Music is good for body and soul.
- Play should be part of everyone's life - young and old.
- Everyone should be free to experience joyful art.
- Music connects us to our emotions, to each other and to the world around us and is a vital tool for change.
- We are part of the natural world - connected to it and each other.
We create shows for theatrical spaces where babies and adults can relax, play and have fun with music. We welcome everyone and work hard to make high quality performances that inspire people to develop a lifelong relationship with singing and music.
We are proud to have performed at libraries, art centres, festivals, theatres and opera houses across the country. These include: Polka Theatre, The Egg, Deda, Half Moon, Cast, Cambridge Junction, The Royal Opera House, Just So Festival, Watermans, Theatre Royal Norwich, Z-arts, Pound Arts Centre and G-Live.

'My twin boys were captivated, they really never sit that still. For me it was so uplifting to hear beautiful operatic song in an environment where the boys were welcome and comfortable. A wonderful treat for us all.'
'Full of space for children to be themselves.'
'Thank you for being so inclusive of all the children.'
